FAQ - Deductibles, Discounts, and other features

What is the deductible?
You choose your deductible – $100, $250, $500, or $1000.

What discounts are available?
  • Multicar discount – If you have more than one vehicle on the policy, you will receive a 10% discount.
  • Multicoverage discount – If you have both auto and property coverage, you will receive a 10% discount for having multiple coverages.
  • Transfer discount – If you are currently covered by an international policy with another carrier, you will receive a 5% discount for transferring your insurance to us.  To get this discount, all you have to do is email us a copy of your current declarations page. (policy summary)
  • Government discount – If you are a government employee or government contractor, you will receive a 10% discount.
Other Questions
If I am evacuated from an area, what is covered?

A loss due to war or evacuation is covered by your policy, in the same way as any other covered peril. If you are permanently relocated to another international location, please notify us so that we can update your policy. If you are temporarily using another vehicle (rental), be sure to buy the rental insurance offered.

What is duty coverage?
If your vehicle is totaled in a covered loss and you are charged for duties or taxes from customs when buying a replacement vehicle, you will be reimbursed for those taxes (up to the limit shown on your policy).

What is transit coverage?
Transit coverage allows your property or vehicle to be insured once it leaves the shores of the United States, during shipment. This is optional coverage.

How long is transit coverage on my policy?
Transit coverage is in effect for one year at a time. It will drop off of your policy at the time of renewal, but can be added back whenever you learn of a new relocation.

Managing my policy
When will I get my policy?

You should receive your policy within 2 business days via email.

Do you have payment plans?
Our policies are offered on an annual basis only.

What happens if I change my address?
Let us know anytime your contact information changes by email, fax, phone, or regular mail.

I may get transferred soon – what do I need to do to keep my insurance?
Let us know your new address. As long as it is not in the US or Canada, we should be able to cover you at the new assignment.

How do I make changes to my policy?
Email or call us to make any changes.

What happens if I get divorced?
Email or call us to change the listed drivers on your policy. When the divorce decree is final, there will be no coverage for your former spouse.

Can I add transit coverage at any time?
Yes, it will be in effect for one year.

Can I add duty coverage?
Yes, you can add this at the time of your renewal.

How do I add a person to my policy?
Email or call us to change the listed drivers on your policy.

How do I cancel my policy?
You can email or call us.

How do I make a payment?
When you apply for your policy, you will make a payment. For future payments, please call us or go to our parent company website.  You will need your policy number and zip code.

Will my policy automatically renew?

How will I receive my bill?
We will email your bill to you.
